Business Challenges
This company had decided to build a custom pricing solution to address their specific requirements in both the domestic and international business. This pricing solution had various complex pricing algorithms and was to be used across all lines of the business. The client needed help in setting up a Program Management Office (PMO) that leverages best practices and tools to ensure success of the pricing program.
Approach & Recommendation
We reviewed the strategic objectives for the pricing program and met with all stakeholders to get a complete understanding of the current business processes, cross functional touch points, data, and reports. We also implemented a strategy to conduct a current state assessment of the program, determine the impact to the business, and then used these findings to drive the improvement process.
Results
We assessed the current state of the pricing work stream and identified gaps within various work streams (across all pricing sub-teams) and impacts on the global program work streams. In addition, we provided gap assessments against all pipeline projects that intersected with the pricing work stream.
Furthermore, we established work stream cadence, structure, and roles and responsibilities for the pricing work stream PMO. We also formulated detailed risk identification and assessment plans which included corresponding mitigation strategies. We also developed and executed project plans from concept to launch with significant interdependence on cross-operational companies, and cross-regional resources and processes.
Finally, we provided recommendations based upon gap analysis and alignment to the PMO and scheduled a go forward plan for the work stream (including but not limited to: buy vs. build decisions, team resourcing assessment, framework for working with Global Regions/Operational Companies, procurement planning, a communication plan, an adoption plan, change management, etc.).
